Moise, BACKYARD PARTY

Moise is the son of two Rwandan immigrants based in Minneapolis, He built his music career in which he released his debut album in 2020, ‘Postcards I Forgot to Send,' playing a sold-out show in his hometown. Now generating over 65,000 streams on Spotify, Moise is making his mark in the music world. The stories behind his lyrically pleasing, upbeat songs are fueled by hardships, family, and his personal connection to these.

The moment I heard the first three seconds of Moise’s B-side, “BACKYARD PARTY,” I immediately added it to my playlist.

It screams summer and matches my music taste so well. The lyrics are catchy, too, a favorite of mine is “Forgot your birthday card.” Relatable.

With layers of instrumentation and gentle (but effective) harmonies, Moise delivers a solid track. Light synths, playful drum patterns, and funky basslines balance out with his vocals to produce, what I would call, magic. He infuses 90’s Brit Rock elements with modern R&B of the 2000’s to create a rhythm that makes him stand out.

BACKYARD PARTY is easily my favorite track among six others in his latest album titled WE SURVIVED THE STORM, VOL 1. The other tracks have their own style, though, and are still a must-listen. BURN YOU OUT, a combination of a bass-forward melody and falsetto that touches on a Silk Sonic vibe, makes for a great title track.

The feel-good energy from this Minneapolis native is sure to grasp the attention from slow R&B enjoyers to pop fans. His rock R&B style passes the ‘car test’ and will definitely make you groove on the road.
