Sabrina Song, Doors

In "Doors" Sabrina Song’s latest single, she shares anecdotes of losing faith in love and searching for comfort in close friends. Song's ability to write personal lyrics is enabled by overthinking.

Being the writer and producer of her music, Song draws from past experiences to poeticize growing up while navigating romantic love. Soft instrumentals reflect her soothing voice despite the lyrics suggesting an unhealthy relationship, through which an act of becoming distant helps her to stay true to herself. She recognizes the toxic nature of her bond with this person, and I feel her frustration when she says, “ugh!” This track has the potential to reach a young audience in similar situations, just like her previous singles have done.

Among other features, the NYC-based musician has already claimed her spot in the indie pop genre when Phoebe Bridgers recognized her talent in NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest. Sabrina Song’s cathartic alt-pop track made it on my monthly playlist, and I hope it finds a place in yours too.

P.S. popping on your headphones and lying on your bedroom floor may make this listening experience 10x more relatable.
